I went a whole week, oh wait...

So, I've been waiting with great anticipation for the day that I could write, I've gone a whole week without crying for my sisters. To date, I haven't made it. Even writing this I can't see the screen very well because of the broken dam I have in my eyes. I thought I made it two weeks ago, but then I thought back and said,"Oh wait, I cried on Tuesday and Thursday and I'm crying right now." Then I thought I had made it when I called my oh so sick older sister to tell her answering machine that I was so sorry that she is so sick and that I can't be there to help take care of her kids(I did suggest that they fly them out there, but knew in my heart of hearts that that wouldn't happen.) and that I miss her so much. When I made the call another sister answered the phone and it was all downhill from there. I love my sisters! I miss them more than I thought I would. I miss the phone calls that go something like this,"I was just at The Children's Place and their clearance is take an additional 50% off. I don't know if you need anything, just thought I would let you know..." Or the ones that are like,"Hey does Saturday work this week for date night?" One of my favorite phone calls went something like this,"The Miss America Pageant is on in 3 months, will you watch it with me?!" I miss talking about sore boobs for no known reason and how often do you...ya know? I know that I can and probably will still have these conversations on the phone, but it just isn't the same. I love love love my sisters! I miss them so much. I am so thankful that we will be sisters forever and that living apart will be short in the whole scheme of things. So to B,K,S,E,T,M,S and G I say, "I love you guys!"

Stuffed quesadillas

Heaven in a tortilla. That's what we ate the other night. We made them up as we went. Oh my word they were so good! We put cilantro/lime rice in it. Then chicken. Not just plain chicken, no no no! I boiled the chicken and then shredded it. I divided it into two bowls. In one bowl I sprinkled ranch dressing mix. Not the entire packet, just enough to coat the chicken. The other bowl was sprinkled with taco seasoning. So we put our chicken of choice on top of the wonderful rice which I also was experimented with. Then we put cheese on top. Then we cooked them in our handy dandy quesadilla maker. They were a-mazing! They were cheap too, another huge bonus!

Fruit flies

I can not even begin to tell you how badly I dis-like fruit flies. It seems as of late that we are being over run by these oh so annoying, flying, pests'. We don't know where they came from, or why they are here. We do know where they are going, they are being killed and then washed down the drain. I'm told that all drains lead to the ocean, so if the little fruit flies try to come back to life, the sharks can eat them. Anyway, one day 21 of them met their demise. Then next day 20 more of their little friends joined them. B looked up on the Internet how to get rid of them. We found out that we can't keep food out on our counter, which we don't do anyway. And that we need to keep our house cleaned. I try to keep our house clean, but on Friday we cleaned really well. Much to my dismay, the fruit flies haven't left our house yet. Thankfully I have two really good bug hunters that are always on the look out for the fruit flies. When they see one or two or seventeen, they yell,"Mommy! Here are more annoying fruit flies." All I can do is continue having seizure like activity as I try to get rid of them and keep the swearing in my head. GRRRRRRR stupid friut flies!

How did you spend your Saturday?

Some of you may have spent your Saturday cleaning or running errands or watching the BYU vs. San Diego State game(we heard it was an outstanding game. Go Cougs!). We decided that today would be the day that we went looking for alligators. We had been told that they are all over the place, just laying on the side of the road, but alas, we haven't seen any. Today we went on the hunt and we were not disappointed! Isn't that such a cool sign? We saw a bunch of cars pulled off to the side of the road. We wondered if they were looking at alligators. We pulled over and saw this sign. Then we saw...
ALLIGATORS! This one is a little anti-climatic, don't worry, there are better pictures. This one was watching something in the water. Whatever it was splashed and then the alligator went under water. I'm assuming that it went to eat lunch, but I could be wrong.

This one is a little bigger than the last one. B wanted a picture of M and K standing in front of it. K was too tired and wouldn't. M saw a bee, freaked out and clung to me with a death grip. It wasn't because of an alligator about 3 feet away from her(don't worry, it was in a ditch, we wouldn't really stand about three feet away from an alligator.)No the death grip and total fear was from the bee that flew by her.

This is what I'm talking about! Yes a big alligator laying in the sun on the side of the road! There was a guard rail, canal and then the alligator. Isn't that so cool!

They blend in so well. If you aren't looking for them, you would just drive right by them. That makes me wonder how many we have just driven by. Although we have been looking for them and haven't seen any. We had to drive about an hour away from our house to see these ones. On our way home on the freeway, there is a chain link fence. Walking on the other side of the fence was a HUGE alligator! I didn't see these alligators walking like the one on the freeway, but the one on the freeway looked like a Goliath of alligators. I wish we could have turned around on the freeway so that we could have gotten a picture, but these ones are still pretty awesome if you ask me!

Swimming!

What a cheese ball! B told her to smile and this is what he got. Our children love to go swimming. This past week they have gotten a lot more comfortable in the water.

I love love love this picture! M is teaching herself how to swim. She loves to jump in, sit on the bottom and then jump up to the surface. I stand really close to her to make sure that she's ok. She is actually pretty good. I love to watch her swim.
K used to have to be held, even with his floaties on. This last week he figured out that he will in fact float. He loves it! He will yell,"mommy! I floating to you!" Then he kicks his little legs until he gets to me. He also really likes to go backwards.

He too likes to jump into the water. He likes that he pops out of the water because of his floaties. He taught himself how to spit the water out of his mouth so it looks like a fountain. So when he comes up, he does the fountain and then happily kicks to the side so he can jump again. We're loving the weather and that we can go swimming while B is at school all day. This past week we went four times. It's awesome!

I'm not tired!

The other morning when K woke up, I knew that he hadn't slept well. He was dancing like he needed to go potty, so I took him. The whole time he was going he just cried saying that he didn't need to and didn't want to go potty. When I asked him if he was tired, he said no. We went for a walk. This was at about 10:00 in the morning. He said he needed one of my hats for shade. Then he laid on the tray, made sure his face was covered and fell asleep.

He was snoring, that's how asleep he was. He had been awake for 2 hours before he fell asleep. He hasn't taken a nap that soon after being awake since he was a little tiny baby. Thankfully when he woke up, he was much happier.

Reading with daddy

I love this picture. It wasn't staged at all. I walked by to go change the laundry and this is what I saw. I love it! B got home from school before we got home from swimming that afternoon. As we pulled into the garage, B was standing in the doorway waving at us. M saw him and said,"I love when he wears that shirt." It made me laugh. I love my little family so much!

Bug hunting

I was talking to some girls in our ward last week. They told me to stay out of the grass because there are fire ants. So I made the mistake of telling my dear children to be careful in the grass because there are ants that will bite them. Now there is a constant watch for bugs, Especially in our house. If a crumb is on the floor, M will tell us to pick it up so the bugs don't come into our house. The other day I walked into my room and this is what I saw. When I asked them what they were doing, I was told that they were bug watching. I don't know why they thought there would be bugs under our bed, but they stayed there for quite awhile watching for bugs. I love them so much and I'm so thankful that they are on the constant lookout for bugs, someone's got to do it right?!

Day maker

So, Valentine's Day was just another day. B had left at 7:30 to go to school. M, K and I went on a walk. We saw a turtle in the pond by our house and that was cool. We came home and then decided to take M and K's scooters over to the community skating rink and let them ride around until lunch time. As we were leaving to walk home, B called and said that he had come home for lunch. I was really excited about that! We walked into the house and to my great astonishment, there were roses on the table!
I almost cried! B has gotten me roses 4 times in the almost 12 years we've been together. So when I get them, they are a really big deal! I love them. They made my entire Valentine's day. I did feel bad because we don't usually get anything for each other for Valentine's day. So I didn't have anything for him. I don't know how to explain how awesome it feels to get flowers when you don't get them very often. I just love them! Thank you so much B! You are my everything! You are the better half of my whole. I love you forever, for always and no matter what!

Who needs an umbrella?

There was a bite sized storm this afternoon. K's first reaction was to come running towards the house in total terror screaming that it's raining. Once I told him that it was ok he calmed down. He walked over to his toy box and dug around for a minute until he found his yellow hard hat. He put it on and said,"I have my hat on, my head won't get wet. I'm going outside." I told him ok, he asked me to open the door and out he went. I love that he wouldn't let his head get wet, but he refused to put shoes on. He was fine out there until water dripped on his back, then he wanted nothing to do with it.

Sand dollar

Isn't that so cool?! I wish I could say that we found this. Alas, we did not. We were walking along the beach and a lady stopped and asked if we had found any sand dollars yet. We said no and so she gave us the one that she had found. She told us that a sand dollar is a Christian symbol because of the Easter Lilly that is on the front. The piercings on it symbolize the nail marks on Christ's hands and feet when he was crucified. She said that if you break one open then in the sand formations on the inside there are things called the doves of peace. If you look close enough they look like little doves in there and Christ taught peace.
I don't know how well you can see the flower on the back. I thought it was so nice of her to just give it to us! For some reason I have always really liked sand dollars, so thank you kind lady for giving us a whole one and not just a piece of one.

Isn't it beautiful?

This picture was taken outside of our Kitchen door. I think it is so beautiful! Of course it was better in person, but this isn't a bad shot if you ask me.
